Leadership Bio – Joseph D. Newcomer

Founder & CEO

Joseph D. Newcomer is a writer who explores weird and thought-provoking stories through speculative fiction and social commentary with intermittent gut punches of the kind of dark humor one needs to navigate our seemingly crumbling society. His work includes Darkest Day, Diminishing Return, Thought and Other Absurdities, El Camino Blue, and the Thought and Other Absurdities Blog and Podcast.

Joseph didn’t stop at writing. He’s on a mission to give a voice to authors who create unique and unusual stories that often don’t get the attention they deserve. For Dead Star Press, Joseph carefully selects every novel, story, poem, or essay that Dead Star Press intends to publish. He aims to publish writing that veers from the ordinary with rich creativity, authenticity, and underlying meaning.

Beyond writing and publishing, Joseph dreams of living in The Twilight Zone, though he believes we may already be. This desire speaks to his passion for storytelling about breaking free from the mundane and embracing the strange. In creating Dead Star Press, he has provided a space for authors who, like him, enjoy exploring the fantastical and forcing readers to think beyond the pages.

If you are intrigued by stories where reality gets a little or even incredibly twisted, Joseph’s works and publishing company are the perfect places to get lost. In his world, the unusual isn’t tolerated. It’s embraced.
